Thanks to their size and the number of Facebook users, Germany and other larger European countries have active geotargeting, which lets advertisers advertise by region and so limit the budget of their marketing campaigns. The cost per click there reaches a euro and more, so advertisers are starting to doubt whether advertising on the larger online networks makes sense. Although the number of users keeps rising, activity per user is falling, which can be attributed to information overload online.
As a result, more and more niche sites will emerge. On smaller social networks we can have greater marketing impact and better results. Many communities sponsored by companies will also appear. Companies will either build the social community themselves or hire a company to do the work for them.
What advice would you give to companies that do not yet use social networks in their business? How should they approach this?
Inactive or barely active profiles on social networks do not give a good image of a company. If a business owner has neither the experience nor the time to maintain and publish up-to-date information, they should find a suitable company to manage these activities. The purpose of every social network profile is, of course, to inform and redirect potential customers to a service or product and to generate inquiries. If the business owner does not have a suitable presentation site or online store, that is the first requirement to meet.
