Brand pages: upgrading from version 1.x

The upgrade to 2.0 moves the text mappings into a table without manual steps. Products stay in the same categories; how to check it and what changes.

Version 1.x placed products by text lines in the settings (for example Gold=gold). Version 2.0 moves these lines into the mapping table as manual mappings during the upgrade.

Upgrading

composer update degriznet/m2_attributecategory
bin/magento setup:upgrade
bin/magento setup:di:compile
bin/magento cache:flush

There are no manual steps. Check with bin/magento magelan:attribute-category:sync --dry-run: the dry run must show 0 changes. On our test store 4 lines (with names, IDs and URL keys in different languages) were moved and the placement stayed the same.

What changes

  • The 1.x rules stay what they were: they place products into existing categories, create no pages and show nothing on the product. You can change this when editing the rule.
  • For brand pages run the wizard in Catalog › Brands; it adds a new rule for the brand attribute.
  • The two text fields stay in the Advanced group of Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Categories from an Attribute. When you change and save them, the lines are imported again. Importing again without saving: bin/magento magelan:attribute-category:migrate.
  • The settings section and access permissions are unchanged.
