On a configurable product the shopper normally picks a size or a colour one at a time and adds every combination separately. The order table shows all variants in one table: the shopper types a quantity on each row, sees the total below and adds every row with one click on Add to cart. It suits work clothes, screws and pipes, and anything bought in several sizes or lengths at once.
Before you start
- at least one configurable product with several variants,
- a decision whether you want the table on all configurable products or only on some.
1. Turn the table on for the whole store
Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Shoe Size Guide
Open the General group and check that Enabled is set to Yes.
Set Default view to Order table.
Click Save Config.
Open a configurable product in the store. The table is on the product page and the standard selector (drop-downs or colour swatches) is hidden.
2. Choose the view for a single product
Catalog › Products
Open a configurable product and find the Variants table tab. Simple products do not have it.
Choose the view for this product in the Variants display field.
Save the product.
The choices are:
- Default (per settings): the store's Default view applies,
- Order table: a quantity for every variant,
- Size table: measures per size next to the standard selector,
- Standard only: no table.
The choice on the product wins over the store setting. This way work clothes can have the order table while other products keep the standard selector.
3. What the shopper sees
- every variant is one row: image, attributes (for example size and colour), SKU, price, stock and a quantity field,
- below the table are the total number of pieces and the total value, and an Add to cart button that adds all filled rows at once,
- if one row fails (for example because of stock), the other rows are still added and the failed row stays on the page with a note on what is wrong,
- on a phone the rows turn into cards and the total sticks to the bottom of the screen,
- after adding, the mini cart refreshes and can also open by itself (the Open mini cart after add setting in the Order table group).
Common problems
There is no table, I see the standard selector
Check that the module is Enabled, that the product is configurable and that the Variants table tab does not have Standard only selected. A product with more variants than Max variants per product also gets the standard selector. Clear the store cache after a change.
Some variants are missing from the table
The table shows only the variants Magento would show anyway: enabled ones, and out-of-stock ones only when the store displays out-of-stock products.
I cannot find the Variants table tab on the product
The tab exists only on configurable products. Open the parent product, not a single variant.
