Related products, up-sells and cross-sells

For each product you can set three lists of products that the shop offers to the customer. They differ in where they appear:

List in the admin	Where it appears	Example
Related Products	on the product page, as an addition	a bag and a memory card for a camera
Up-Sell Products	on the product page, as a more expensive or better choice	a better model next to the basic one
Cross-Sell Products	in the cart, below the products	batteries, cleaner, gift wrapping

The exact position and look of the lists depend on your shop's design. Some themes do not show cross-sells in the cart, or show related products below the description.

Adding products

Catalog › Products › (product) › Related Products, Up-Sells, and Cross-Sells

Open the product and expand the Related Products, Up-Sells, and Cross-Sells section.
1. Add Related Products - the Related Products list.
2. Add Up-Sell Products.
3. Cross-Sell Products - the button for adding to the third list.
Click the button for the list, for example Add Related Products. A window opens with a list of all products.
Find the products (filters above the list or search by name), tick them and click Add Selected Products.

To change the order, grab a row by the icon on the left and drag it. Remove a product with Remove in the Actions column.
Click Save.

A link only works in one direction: if you add a cleaner to the bag, the bag does not automatically appear on the cleaner. For a two-way link, add the product on the other side as well. Three to six products per list is enough; longer lists do not attract customers.

For many products at once

You can import the links with a CSV file: the related_skus, upsell_skus and crosssell_skus columns contain SKUs separated by commas. If you would like the shop to choose related products automatically (by category or by what other customers bought), write to us; we set this up with a module.

Common problems

The added products do not appear in the shop

The product is disabled, out of stock or has the visibility Not Visible Individually. Also check the cache.

I cannot find a product in the selection window

Reset the filters in the window (the Reset Filter button) and search by SKU.

mage-cache-storage	Local storage of visitor-specific content that enables ecommerce functions.
mage-cache-storage-section-invalidation	Forces local storage of specific content sections that should be invalidated.
mage-messages	Tracks error messages and other notifications that are shown to the user, such as the cookie consent message, and various error messages. The message is deleted from the cookie after it is shown to the shopper.
private_content_version	Appends a random, unique number and time to pages with customer content to prevent them from being cached on the server.
section_data_ids	Stores customer-specific information related to shopper-initiated actions such as display wish list, checkout information, etc.
user_allowed_save_cookie, cookie_consent	Stores the user's cookie consent state for the current domain.
X-Magento-Vary	Configuration setting that improves performance when using Varnish static content caching.

recently_compared_product	Stores product IDs of recently compared products.
recently_compared_product_previous	Stores product IDs of previously compared products for easy navigation.
recently_viewed_product	Stores product IDs of recently viewed products for easy navigation.
recently_viewed_product_previous	Stores product IDs of recently previously viewed products for easy navigation.
_fbp	This cookie is installed by Facebook to store and track visits across websites.

dc_gtm_*	Throttles request rate when Google Analytics is deployed with Google Tag Manager.
_ga, _gat, _gid, _ga_, _gat_	This cookie is installed by Google Analytics. They are used to collect information about how visitors use our website. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the website. The cookies collect information in a way that does not directly identify anyone.
