Per-customer catalog restriction

About the module

What it does.

"Some partners may not, or do not want to, see the whole range." In B2B not every product is for everyone.

What it looks like in practice

A partner logs in and sees in the menu, categories, search and widgets only the range you allowed them. The hidden products and categories have disappeared for them. A guest or an unrestricted customer sees the whole catalogue, and a restricted customer gets their own variation of the cached page.

What changes

Set on the customer. On the customer's page you switch the restrictions on and choose what they should not see.
Hidden categories. They disappear from the menu, from category pages and from the filters in other categories.
Hidden products. You mark products in a grid with filters and search; they disappear from categories, search and widgets.
Guests and unrestricted customers. They see the whole catalogue.
Caching works correctly. A restricted customer gets their own variation of the cached page, so they never receive another customer's page.

Who it is for

For B2B and wholesale stores where you want to show individual partners only part of the range. The Swissup Navigation Pro menu is supported as well.

How you set it up

In the admin open Customers › All Customers, edit the customer and on the Catalog Permissions tab switch on Is Restricted User? and choose the categories and products.

Good to know

Hiding works in the range on offer (categories, search, menu, widgets); it is not meant for locking individual links.
After an update in production mode, setup:di:compile is required.

Installation

How to install it.

We install the module from our repository with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install it for you.

In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

Setup

In the admin open Customers › All Customers › Edit › Catalog Permissions.

Open the customer and the Catalog Permissions tab.
Switch on Is Restricted User?.
Choose the categories to hide and tick the products to hide in the grid.
Save the customer and test by logging in as that customer.

Where do I get the user name and the access key?

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.

Product restrictions also apply in product lists and search when the shop uses page caching.
A restricted customer has their own page and menu cache, so nobody else sees their reduced catalogue and they do not see the full one.
The restricted products list on the customer card works with filtering, sorting and paging.
Opening and saving a customer no longer writes personal data to the log.
Admin texts are fully translated into Slovenian, Croatian and German.
