About the module

What it does.

"We cannot get customers to write reviews, and we pay for an outside service every month." Without product reviews shoppers hesitate, and reviews kept in an outside service are not on your page and not yours.

What it looks like in practice

A customer receives the order and a week later gets an e-mail listing the products with five stars next to each. They click the third star, the form opens already rated, and they add a few words and a photo. A review from a verified buyer with four or five stars is published on its own; the rest wait for your look. On the product page visitors see the average score, customers' photos and a "verified buyer" mark, and you reply from the admin.

What changes

Reviews with photos. Up to five photos per review (you set the number), score distribution that filters, sorting, "helpful" votes and a lightbox.
Verified buyers and moderation. A signed-in customer with an order of the product, or a customer with the link from a review request, is verified. Automatic publishing depends on stars and verified buyers; suspicious words and links always wait for a look.
Review requests by e-mail. One e-mail per order, some days after shipment or completion, one reminder and one-click opt-out. For a review you can send a thank-you coupon (optionally only for reviews with a photo, never for the rating alone).
Questions and answers, import, Google. Customers ask on the product page and you answer in the admin. Import reviews from Stamped, Judge.me, Yotpo or CSV; the product rating goes into structured data, and a reviews feed for Google Shopping is available.
Rendered by the server. The score and the first page of reviews are in the page HTML, so search engines and AI assistants read them and nothing loads from another domain.

Who it is for

For shops that want product reviews on their own page without a monthly subscription to an outside service. It differs from our Google reviews module: Google reviews shows your business's ratings from Google, while this module collects reviews of individual products on your page. The two complement each other.

How you set it up

Reviews, questions, requests and import are in the admin under Marketing › Product Reviews, and the settings under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Product Reviews. E-mail templates are under Marketing › Email Templates. It works on the Luma and Hyvä themes without a compatibility module.

Good to know

The module is switched off by default; turn it on in the settings. Sending requests and the coupon are separately off until you switch them on.
Reviews are stored in Magento's own tables, so existing reviews and category stars keep working.
Requests go out through cron; e-mail only customers you may e-mail. Whether review requests count as service or marketing messages depends on the country, and the shop decides.
Video in reviews (off by default) needs our Video Reels module. Translating reviews with AI needs your own OpenAI key.
Reviewer e-mail addresses are stored as a keyed hash, and photos are re-encoded when stored, which removes EXIF data.

Installation

How to install it.

We install the module from our repository with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install it for you.

In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

Setup

In the admin open Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Product Reviews.

In the Product Page group set Enabled to Yes; choose whether guests may review and how many photos are allowed.
In the Moderation group set from how many stars reviews publish on their own and the words that always wait for a look; enter the address for notifications.
If your reviews live in another service open Marketing › Product Reviews › Import, choose the source and the file, and keep the dry run on first.
Before turning on review requests, look at the e-mail in the requests grid or with the command bin/magento magelan:reviews:request ORDER_NUMBER --send; then in Review Requests by E-mail switch sending on and pick the days until the e-mail.
Optionally switch on the thank-you coupon (you pick a cart price rule), the page with all reviews and the Google feed.

Where do I get the user name and the access key?

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.
