About the module

What it does.

"We have product videos on Instagram and TikTok, but shoppers do not see them on the website." Whoever watches a video elsewhere leaves, and does not finish the purchase with you.

What it looks like in practice

In the admin you upload a few videos, tag the products in each, and the module shows them as story bubbles at the top of the homepage. A visitor on a phone taps a bubble and a full-screen feed opens that they swipe up. Beside the video is the product: they tap it, pick a size or colour and add to cart without leaving the video. Later you see in the statistics how much revenue the videos brought.

What changes

Videos on your own site. MP4 or WebM files live in your media, with no third-party service and no script from elsewhere. On upload the module checks the type, codec, size and length and makes a poster image.
Placements without editing pages. Story bubbles on the homepage, a carousel, videos of the product on the product page, bubbles on category pages and a page with all videos (/videos), plus a Page Builder element and a widget for any content.
Buying inside the video. A variant picker (colours, sizes), add to cart and a toast; on computers a modal with arrows and keyboard control. Captions (.vtt or .srt) and accessibility are supported.
Statistics with revenue. Impressions, opens, views, watch time, product clicks, adds to cart and revenue attributed to videos: direct (added in the video) and assisted (product opened from a video and bought within seven days).
Fast pages. Not a single byte of video is loaded before a tap; the player loads on the first tap.

Who it is for

For shops that already film, or will film, short vertical product videos (fashion, beauty, home, equipment) and want to put them to work on their own site. It pairs well with the Product reviews module, which can turn videos from reviews into videos on the page.

How you set it up

Videos, collections, placements and statistics are in the admin under Content › Video Reels; on the first visit a first-steps page opens (upload up to three videos, tag products, publish). Settings are under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Video Reels. It works on the Luma and Hyvä themes.

Good to know

The module is switched off by default; the first-steps page turns it on.
The web server must serve media files with byte ranges (206 answers) and the types video/mp4, video/webm and text/vtt; otherwise videos do not play on iPhone. The admin checks this and shows what to fix.
iPhone HEVC videos are not supported; film in H.264 ("Most Compatible"). Upload your own videos: music from TikTok or Instagram is licensed only for that platform.
Simple, virtual and configurable products can be bought inside the video; bundle, grouped and products with required options open on the product page.
Get consent from people who appear in videos; for paid creators switch on the paid partnership label.

Installation

How to install it.

We install the module from our repository with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install it for you.

In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

Setup

In the admin open Content › Video Reels.

On the first visit the first-steps page opens: upload up to three videos and tag products.
Choose where the videos show (homepage, product page, categories) and publish.
On a Hyvä theme run php bin/magento hyva:config:generate after installing and rebuild the theme CSS (npm run build in web/tailwind). Luma needs nothing.
Check that the server delivers the video files correctly (admin or php bin/magento magelan:reels:health).
Player, all-videos page, statistics and upload settings are under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Video Reels.

Where do I get the user name and the access key?

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.

A Video Reels element in Page Builder (Media group): drag it onto a CMS page or block and choose the collection, layout, title, product on cards, muted preview and number of columns in its form. It works the same on Luma and Hyvä.
Captions: .srt files are converted automatically on upload to the format the player understands.
Automatic placement on category pages on Luma and Hyvä.

You are not left alone.

We develop and maintain the module ourselves, so you write to the people who know it line by line.

Installation

For existing Degriz customers we install the module free of charge. For other buyers we charge the installation by time spent.

Support

A bug that repeats on a clean Magento with the Luma theme we fix free of charge. Settings, customisations and other themes by time spent.

Updates

The licence includes updates for the Magento versions on the supported list.

We agree on a date after reviewing the request. User guides in the guide centre
