If our online store is very competitive or if we have so many unique items that they are not sold anywhere else, one of the very good features is the "Match the price" option, as it gives the customer a guarantee that their offer is the lowest.
The functionality works in such a way that on the product page we write that if someone finds a better offer, the seller will match it. This is done by clicking on the text, for example, "Found a better offer elsewhere? Match the price", we offer the customer a form where they can provide their details and information about the offer, and if it is lower, the seller will adjust their offer to the customer.
The form includes main fields such as customer information, which allows us to contact them, and input fields for entering the competitor's price and a link to the better offer. Of course, we must not forget the general terms, where the conditions of use are precisely defined. For example, the offer must be recent and for an identical item (e.g., the same EAN code), it must be valid for the Slovenian market, and a few similar conditions to prevent abuse.

I first implemented this functionality about six years ago on the first online store Emundie, and just last week I received another support request to set up a similar functionality on a new client's online store* and I must say, it was a pleasure to create the functionality again, as I really enjoy working on such non-classical elements of an online store. I think it will serve the client very well, and it was all relatively quickly (about 2 hours of work) integrated into the Magento system.
*I did not create or design the store in the link, but now I only take care of corrections and other upgrades (installment payments, warranty displays, etc.).
Why is "match the price" a good functionality for an online store?
The "match the price" option in an online store brings numerous advantages for both customers and sellers, thereby increasing customer trust and satisfaction and enhancing the store's competitiveness. Customers who know they will always get the best possible price feel more confident in making a purchase, which reduces the need to search for better offers elsewhere and saves time. Additionally, this option makes customers more likely to decide to purchase, knowing they are not risking losing a better offer from the competition. Increased customer loyalty can lead to repeat purchases, which strengthens the store in the long run and increases its market share.
For sellers, this strategy means increasing the conversion rate, as it attracts customers who would otherwise shop with the competition, directly increasing sales. Offering price matching ensures a competitive advantage for the store, as it differentiates from other stores that do not offer such an option. It also allows merchants to gain valuable data on competitive pricing, which is crucial for optimizing pricing strategies. Price matching requests provide merchants with insights into market trends and enable faster responses to market changes. Furthermore, such a policy enhances the brand's reputation, as it shows that the store puts customer satisfaction first, improving brand perception and increasing customer loyalty.
