A product can have as many images as you like. The first is usually the main image; customers browse the others in the gallery on the product page.
Adding images
Catalog › Products › (product) › Images And Videos
Expand the Images And Videos section.
Product images. The labels below an image show its role. The field with the camera is for new images. Click the field with the camera (Browse to find or drag image here) and choose one or more files. You can also drag them from a folder.
To change the order, grab an image and drag it to its new place.
Click Save.
Image roles
Click an image and, in the window under Role, tick where it is used:

The same window has Alt Text (a description of the image for search engines and screen readers) and a Hide from Product Page tick box if you do not want the image in the gallery.
Common problems
The product list shows a grey placeholder instead of the photo
No image has the Small role. Open the image, tick all three roles and save.
A new image does not show in the shop
Flush the cache and refresh the page. Your browser may have kept the old image.
