In Croatia, dual pricing has been mandatory since September 5, 2022. Providers of commercial goods and services must display prices in both kunas and euros, using the fixed exchange rate of 7.53450 kunas per euro. The euro will officially become the currency in Croatia on January 1, 2023, and payments in kunas will be possible until January 14 inclusive.
The entire process is divided into three different phases:
- Phase until January 1, 2023, will involve dual price display in euros and kunas.
- Phase starting January 1, 2023, with the introduction of the euro. During this period, customers will be able to pay for services and products in euros or kunas. Refunds to customers will be made in euros.
- Phase after January 14, 2023, the only valid currency in stores will become the euro.
Some time ago, we posted a notice on our Facebook page and later a solution from the company Inchoo. To make it clearer what is needed, we will explain specifically for both Magento platforms.
Magento 2 and dual price display
For Magento 2, a free module that enables dual price display was developed by the Croatian company Inchoo.
In online stores with dual price display, they have arranged:
- price calculation using the fixed exchange rate to 5 decimal places, with price display rounded to 2 decimal places
- clear, readable, and easily visible exchange rate wherever the product price is visible, including:
- homepage
- category page
- product page
- shopping cart
- transactional emails (purchase confirmations)
More information and a link to the module are available at: https://inchoo.hr/magento/dvojni-prikaz-cijena-magento/
Magento 1.9 / Openmage and dual price display
For Magento 1.9.x / Openmage, we developed a module at the request of clients that allows a similar display but does not yet have all displays arranged. This has not yet been implemented for transactional emails and PDF outputs.
Through the administration, it is possible to change the exchange rate and currency so that if you change prices to euros with the new year, this data can be replaced.
You can view an example of integration on the client's site: https://www.gamat.hr/
