Cash-on-delivery with surcharge
The cash-on-delivery fee shows as its own line among the totals, so the customer sees it and you are not paying it out of your own pocket.

About the module
What it does.
"The post office charges me a fee for cash on delivery, and the customer does not pay it." A cost nobody covers eats into your margin on every such order.
What it looks like in practice
At checkout the customer chooses cash on delivery. A separate line appears among the totals with the text you chose, for example 'Cash on delivery fee', and the grand total already includes it. The customer sees what they will pay, so there are no surprises at the door. The same line is carried to the order, the invoice and the credit memo.
What changes
- Surcharge by payment method. You set an amount for each payment method, for example cash on delivery; the rules work for any payment method.
- Fixed amount or percentage. Give the amount as a fixed figure or as a percentage of the order subtotal.
- A separate line. The surcharge shows among the totals in the cart and checkout and is carried to the order, invoice and credit memo.
- VAT by your rules. Choose a tax class, or add the amount without VAT.
Who it is for
For stores that offer cash on delivery and are charged an extra fee for it by the post or courier. It is also useful if you want to cover the cost of any other payment method with a surcharge.
How you set it up
Under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Payment surcharge you enter the text the customer sees (for example 'Cash on delivery fee') and the rules in the form 'payment method code|amount' (for example cashondelivery|0.98 or cashondelivery|2%), one per line. Settings can be set for each store view separately.
Good to know
- The module is off by default and has no rules.
- The amount is fixed or a percentage, not tiered by cart value.
- It works in the Luma and FireCheckout checkouts. How it displays in the Hyvä cart and Hyvä Checkout has not been tested.

How to install it.
We deliver the module from our own repository, installed with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install and set it up for you.
In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.

- VAT on the surcharge: set a tax class and the surcharge is split into net and VAT and shown correctly in the tax totals.
- VAT is also correct on the invoice and credit memo.
- The surcharge is a line of its own in the cart sent to PayPal.
- New Amounts include tax setting: when off, the rule amount is net and VAT is added on top, which is needed for a store view in another country.
- The module settings now sit in the Magelan tab.
