About the module

What it does.

"We have great reviews on Google, but customers in the store never see them." Good reviews should work for you where the customer makes the decision.

What it looks like in practice

A first-time visitor lands in your store and sees Google's average rating, the number of reviews and a carousel of recent reviews with the authors' names and photos. A happy customer can click the button below to leave a new review on your Google form. New reviews are fetched automatically every night.

What changes

Real reviews from Google. Google's average rating, the number of reviews and up to ten recent or most relevant reviews as a carousel (a row with arrows on Hyvä).
Automatic download. New reviews are fetched every night, with the author's photo, which is stored in your shop.
You decide what is shown. Set the lowest rating to display, and switch off, feature or edit the text of any single review.
A button for a new review. It invites the customer to leave a review on your Google form.

Who it is for

For stores and businesses with a verified Google Business profile and reviews that they want to show on their own pages too.

How you set it up

In the admin under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Google Reviews you enter the Google Places API key, the Place ID, the review language, the minimum rating, the company name and where the block appears. You moderate the reviews under Marketing › Google Reviews › Reviews.

Good to know

A Google Places API key and a verified Google Business profile are required.
Google returns at most five reviews per request, so the list grows over time and does not hold the whole review history.
The Magento cron must run for the download.

Installation

How to install it.

We install the module from our repository with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install it for you.

In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

Setup

In the admin open Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Google Reviews.

In API Settings enter the Google Places API key and the Place ID of your Google Business profile.
In Display choose where the block appears, the company name and the minimum rating.
For the new-review button enter the direct link to your Google review form.
Save and clear the cache. The nightly cron does the first download, then you edit the reviews under Marketing › Google Reviews › Reviews.

Where do I get the user name and the access key?

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.

The Enable/Disable and Mark as Featured row actions in the reviews grid work (they ended on an error page).
Enabling, disabling, featuring, deleting or editing a review (and a new review from Google) refreshes the pages that show the reviews.
The display settings (where to show, minimum rating, company name, review link) apply per store view.
A review created in the admin can be saved.
The average rating is written as the store's language writes numbers (4,8 in Slovenian).
The initial of an author whose name starts with Č, Š or Ž is shown whole.
