Recent purchase and stock notifications

A small card in the corner of the screen tells shoppers that someone has just bought a product, how many are left in stock or how many people are viewing it right now - all based on your store's real data.

Shoppers who see that others are buying find it easier to decide. The module shows a small card in the corner of the screen with the product image, price and a line such as Purchased 12 minutes ago or Left in stock: 3. All the numbers are real: purchases come from your orders, stock from your inventory, views from real visitors. The customer's name is never shown. Only the town and country can be shown (for example Ljubljana, SI).

Before you start

  • a few orders in the last few days, otherwise the purchase card has nothing to show,
  • a decision on which notification types you want and where on the screen.

Four notification types

TypeWhere it appearsWhat the shopper sees
Recent purchase (from real orders)everywhere except the cart and checkoutproduct, price, town and Purchased ... ago, plus a Verified purchase badge
Bought this week (product page)on the product pagea number and Bought this week; with a different time window, Recently bought
Low stock left (product page)on the product pagea number and Left in stock
Viewing right now (product page)on the product pagea number and Viewing right now

Switching it on and settings

Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Sales Proof

  1. In the General section, set Enable to Yes and under Notification Types select the types you want (hold Ctrl to select more than one).

  2. Under Position, choose a corner of the screen, for example Bottom left. On phones the card always sits at the bottom of the screen, full width.

  3. Leave the timing settings as they are or adjust them: First Notification After (seconds) is the pause before the first card appears, Visible For (seconds) sets how long it stays, and Maximum Notifications Per Visit sets how many purchase cards a shopper sees in one visit.

  4. In the Recent Purchases section, set Show Buyer Location to City and country (Ljubljana, SI), Country only (SI) or Do not show location. Under Look Back (days), set how many days back to look for orders.

  5. Click Save Config.

In a small town, the town and the exact time together can point to one person. A store with few orders should choose Country only (SI).

What the module does on its own

  • When a shopper closes the card, they don't see it again for the number of hours set in Hide For (hours) After Visitor Closes It.
  • When a shopper has something in the cart, the cards go quiet (Go Quiet When the Cart Is Not Empty) so they don't distract from the purchase.
  • Products that are out of stock never appear in notifications.
  • If a cookie banner or a pop-up window is on screen, the card waits.
The Demo Mode (made up notifications) section shows made-up notifications and is meant for demonstrations only. Keep it switched off on a live store: fake purchases are an unfair business practice.

Common problems

The purchase card doesn't appear

Within the Look Back (days) window there are no orders in the state selected under Count Orders in State (by default Complete and Processing). Make the window longer or add the New (not paid yet) state.

There is no stock or viewer notification on the product page

Stock only shows once the quantity is equal to or below the value in Show When Quantity Is At Or Below (and never at zero). Viewers only show from the number set in Show From (visitors) upwards.

The card covers the cookie banner or a button

Write to us. We'll tell the card which element to wait for, or move it to another corner.
