The module works right after installation: the block “Pages matching your search” shows on the search results page and the page search list builds itself. The settings are in:
Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Search CMS Pages
Most settings can also be changed per website or store view (scope switcher at the top left), for example different excluded pages for the English store. The search list status and the rebuild button are in the default scope only.
General
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled | Switches the pages block on the search results page on or off. It does not change products or the product search. | Yes (new installations) |
| Block position | Above the products or Below the products. When the search finds no products, the block always stands above the no-results message. | Above the products |
| Maximum results shown | How many pages are visible on desktop. Shoppers open the rest with “Show all N”. Phones show at most 3. We recommend 3 to 8. | 5 |
| Show text excerpt | Under the title about 160 characters of text around the search term, which is highlighted on a light background and in bold. With “No” only the page title is shown. | Yes |

Content
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Excluded pages | Identifiers (URL keys) of CMS pages you do not want in the search, one per line. A “*” at the end matches any ending, for example cookie*. Disabled pages and pages not assigned to the store view are never found. | no-route, home, enable-cookies, privacy-policy-cookie-restriction-mode |
| Search blog posts too | Adds published Magelan Blog posts (the translation for the store view, only from the publication date on). They carry a “Blog” label in the results. If Magelan Blog is not installed, the field says so and has no effect. | No |
| Minimum text length | Pages with less text (in characters) are left out, for example empty landing pages. 0 means all pages. | 0 |
Page search list
The module does not search the raw HTML of a page but its own list with the plain text of each page per store view. The list builds itself on installation or upgrade and refreshes when a page (or a blog post) is saved or deleted, in the admin or through the REST API.
- Status: for example “Built 40 pages and 1 blog posts, last on ...”.
- Pages without text: pages whose content sits in blocks or widgets. The search does not see that content; such pages are found by their title only (more in Search CMS pages: what is searched and what is not).
- Rebuild the page search list: the button builds the list again from all active pages; the search results page keeps working the whole time. You only need it after importing pages directly into the database.
The command php bin/magento magelan:searchcms:reindex does the same. If a page could not be indexed, the reason is in var/log/magelan_searchcms.log.
