Search CMS pages

A shopper searches for “delivery” or “returns” and, next to the products, gets your pages with the answer: title, an excerpt with the term highlighted and a link. For the Luma and Hyvä themes.

About the module

What it does.

“How long does delivery take?” A shopper types it into the search and gets only products, or a message that there are no results. The answer has been on your delivery page all along, the search just does not show it.

What it looks like in practice

A shopper types “RETURNS” into the search. Above the products, the block “Pages matching your search” shows your “Returns and complaints” page: the title, a short excerpt around the search term and the term highlighted on a light background. If the search finds no products, the pages stand above the no-results message, so the shopper is not left on an empty page. They click the page and get the answer without writing to you.

What changes

  • Your pages in the search results. The pages block sits above or below the products, as you choose. When the search finds no products, it always stands above the no-results message.
  • An excerpt with the term highlighted. Under the title there are about 160 characters of text around the match, with the search term on a light background and in bold. You can switch the excerpt off and show just the title.
  • Most relevant pages first. A match in the title counts more than a match in the text. Pages that contain all the words come first. If a search of three or more words finds none, pages with at least half of the words are shown.
  • Clear even with many results. On desktop 5 pages are visible by default (you set the number), on phones 3, and shoppers open the rest with “Show all”.
  • Accents and capitals do not matter. “vracilo” finds “Vračilo”. Extra spaces and punctuation do not break the search, and short common words such as “and” or “for” do not count.
  • Only pages the shopper may see. Active pages of the current store view. System pages (404, cookies, home page) are excluded by default, and you can add your own.
  • Blog posts too. If you use Magelan Blog, the search can also cover published posts. They carry a “Blog” label in the results.
  • Luma and Hyvä. Its own template for each theme, with no extra JavaScript. The block works with the full page cache and refreshes when you edit a page.
  • No manual upkeep. The page search list builds itself on installation and refreshes every time a page is saved or deleted.

Who it is for

Stores with pages about delivery, returns, payment, sizes, or guides and instructions that shoppers like to look for. Fewer questions by e-mail, more shoppers who find the answer themselves.

How you set it up

After installation the module already works. In Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Search CMS Pages you choose the block position, the number of visible results, the excerpt, the pages you do not want in the search and whether the search covers the blog too. There you also see how many pages are in the search list and can rebuild it with a button. Tell us which pages you want in the search and we can set it up for you.

Good to know

  • The search sees the text of a page, but not content the page pulls in through the and directives or from CMS blocks. Shoppers still find such a page by its title, and the settings show how many pages have no text.
  • Matching is by parts of words, without stemming: “runs” does not find “running”, and “mat” also finds “format”.
  • Of the blogs, only Magelan Blog is supported. Other blogs (for example FishPig WordPress or Magefan Blog) are not searched.
  • Pages are shown on the search results page, not in the suggestions drop-down while typing.
  • In stores with hundreds of long pages the search gets slower. You keep the list short with exclusions and the minimum text length.
  • If your theme heavily rebuilds the search results page, we place the block by hand.
  • Upgrading from version 1.x needs no manual steps. If you never switched the module on in 1.x, it stays off until you enable it in the settings.
  • Supports Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.9. We tested it on 2.4.9 with the Luma and Hyvä themes.

Installation

How to install it.

You get the module from our private Composer repository; we send you the user name and access key after purchase. We can install it for you, or whoever looks after your store can run these commands in the root of the Magento 2 store (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

composer config repositories.degriz composer https://www.degriz.net/konfigurator/composer/packages/composer config --auth http-basic.www.degriz.net UPORABNIK DOSTOPNI_KLJUCcomposer require degriznet/m2_searchcmsphp bin/magento module:enable Magelan_SearchCmsphp bin/magento setup:upgradephp bin/magento setup:di:compilephp bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -fphp bin/magento cache:flush

The page search list builds itself during setup:upgrade. If you later import pages directly into the database, rebuild it with the button in the settings or with php bin/magento magelan:searchcms:reindex.

If you use the Hyvä theme, also run php bin/magento hyva:config:generate after installing and rebuild the theme CSS (Tailwind) so the module’s styles are included.

Upgrading from version 1.x: composer update degriznet/m2_searchcms, then setup:upgrade, setup:di:compile and a cache flush. There are no manual steps; the search list builds itself.

Where do I get the user name and the access key?

After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.

Lost the key? Write to us and we will issue a new one; the old one stops working. [email protected]

Change log

Version 2.0.0 · 13 Oct 2026

  • Rebuilt CMS page search: its own search list, ranking of results and text excerpts with the search term highlighted.
  • Search ignores diacritics and case. Pages with all the search words come first, and only then pages with at least half of them.
  • The block is above or below the products. On desktop a set number of results is shown (default 5), on phones 3, the rest are under Show all. Luma and Hyvä themes are supported.
  • Settings: position, maximum results, excerpts, excluded pages and, optionally, Magelan blog posts. The list refreshes when a page is saved and the settings have a rebuild button.
  • Fixes: a search with extra spaces no longer lists every page and page links are correct. On new installations the block is on by default.

Version 1.0.3 · 12 Oct 2026

  • The on/off switch now works correctly.
  • Only active pages of the current store view are found.
