Backorder by customer group
Wholesale partners can order products that are currently out of stock, other customers cannot. Backorders for chosen groups only.

About the module
What it does.
"Wholesale partners would order even what is sold out right now, but I do not want to offer that to retail customers." In Magento backorders are for everyone or for nobody by default.
What it looks like in practice
A wholesale partner logs in and opens a product that is currently out of stock. They can order it as a backorder and are told about it. A guest or a retail customer sees the product as before, without the backorder option.
What changes
- Selected groups only. Backorders apply to logged-in customers in the groups you define (e.g. wholesale).
- Retail customers do not see the option. For other groups and for guests the store behaves as before.
- The customer is informed. For the chosen groups the setting 'allow backorders and notify the customer' is applied.
Who it is for
For stores with a wholesale side that want partners to be able to order products that are currently out of stock.
How you set it up
In the admin under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Backorder Customer Settings you switch the feature on and choose the customer groups allowed to backorder. The rule applies to logged-in customers in those groups.
Good to know
- The module changes the general backorders setting for the chosen groups; products with their own stock setting behave according to it.
- With complex stock logic (several warehouses, reservations, MSI) the implementation may need extra adaptation, which we assess separately.

How to install it.
We install the module from our repository with Composer. We send you the user name and access key for the repository after purchase. If you prefer, we install it for you.
In the root of the Magento 2 store run the commands (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

In the admin open Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Backorder Customer Settings.
- Switch the module on and choose the customer groups that may order out-of-stock products.
- Check that the products use the general stock settings, and save.
- Clear the cache and test with a logged-in customer from the chosen group.
Where do I get the user name and the access key?
After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.
