GPSR - product safety (EU)

“Every product needs the manufacturer, the EU responsible person and the warnings, and I have hundreds of products.” Since 13 December 2024 the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires this for every non-food product you sell to customers in the EU.

What changes

• Records instead of retyping. You enter manufacturers and EU responsible persons (importer, authorised representative, fulfilment service provider) once. When an address changes, you fix it in one place.
• Inherited by brand, category or all products. Products inherit the data; a single product can override it or be marked as not needing GPSR. On the product in the admin you see where each value comes from.
• The responsible person when you need one. When the manufacturer is outside the EU, the module requires an EU responsible person and marks products without one in the report.
• Clear on the product page. A Safety information section under the add to cart button, open and without scripts, on Luma and Hyvä. A tab or a place above the description if you prefer.
• Pictograms your way. 16 built-in pictograms (small parts, 0-3 years, magnets, flammable, button battery and more). Replace any of them with your own image or change its label per store view, and add your own.
• Warnings in the customer's language. Warnings and instructions are entered per store view, and the report marks store views that were left without a translation.
• Documents. Instructions, safety data sheets and declarations of conformity as a PDF or a link, together with the product's attachments if you use the Product attachments module.
• Missing data report. Products without a manufacturer, without a responsible person, without required warnings or with conflicting categories, with bulk assignment and a CSV export.
• CSV import. Import records and product assignments by SKU from a file: the module recognises the columns itself, and a dry run shows the errors before anything is written.

How you set it up

On first use a three-step wizard guides you: enter the manufacturer, the EU responsible person if needed, and assign them to all products or a brand. You then see a preview on the first product and how many products still lack data. Everything else is under Catalog › GPSR (parties, assignments, pictograms, missing data, import), the settings under Stores › Configuration › Magelan › GPSR. Tell us which brands and categories you have, and we can set up the data for you.

Good to know

• The module organises and shows the data. Whether your products comply with the regulation and what the warnings say remains your responsibility; the module is not legal advice.
• The built-in pictograms are neutral drawings, not regulated signs (CE, GHS/CLP, ISO 7010). If you need a regulated sign, upload it as your own pictogram and follow its rules.
• A configurable product shows the batch and data of the parent product, not of the chosen variant.
• There is no GPSR column in the product grid, no structured data and no direct marketplace exports (Amazon, Google, Ceneje) yet. You get the data in the CSV export and through the REST API.
• Safety information in the order e-mail is off by default; switch it on in the settings.
• On Hyvä no Tailwind build is needed; the section has its own small stylesheet.
• Supports Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 and PHP 8.1 to 8.4. We tested it on 2.4.9 with the Luma and Hyvä themes.
