Size guide and size finder

“Customers keep asking which size to order, and they send jackets back because they are too small.” A size chart in a PDF or on a separate page does not help if the customer has to read and compare it alone.

What changes

• A three-step wizard. Who the size is for (men, women, kids, unisex; the step is skipped when there is only one chart), one body measurement with a picture of where to measure, and the recommended size.
• The size is selected for them. The “Select size L” button selects it in the product’s size selector (swatches or a dropdown). A size the product does not offer is shown without the button; we never select the wrong one.
• Larger or nearest. When the measurement falls between two sizes, we suggest the larger one by default. You can also choose the nearest size. An exact match always wins.
• Centimetres and inches. The customer switches between cm and in, and the chart converts itself.
• The right chart for each product. Assign a chart to a product, a category (with subcategories), a brand, a clothing type, a brand and type together, or all products. The product also has a “Size chart” field for exceptions.
• No retyping. Paste the chart from Excel, or import and export CSV. Extra columns (EU, US / UK ...) are defined once, not in every row.
• Texts in every language. The window title, the question, the how-to-measure text and the column names are entered per store view, without translation files.
• Pictures that match your theme. Built-in measuring pictures (chest, waist, hips, inside leg, foot) and group cards have a tape drawn in your theme’s accent colour. You can replace any of them with your own.
• Luma and Hyvä. On Hyvä the window opens from the bottom on phones, and the measurement stays in the customer’s browser.

How you set it up

In Content › Size guide › Size charts you add a chart: choose the measurement (for example chest), paste the rows from Excel and assign the chart to products, a category or a brand. The preview shows how customers see it on a phone and a computer. The general settings (wizard, rule between sizes, link position, colour, pictures) are in Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Size guide. Send us your charts and we can enter them for you.

Good to know

• The wizard asks for one measurement per chart (for example chest for jackets, waist for trousers). Several measurements at once are not supported yet.
• The measuring pictures are one set for all groups: the same picture for men and women. For a different picture, add your own to the chart.
• A chart can have up to 8 extra columns and up to 200 rows.
• In the admin you search the chart list with column filters (for example by title); there is no keyword search across all fields.
• The size is selected when the row label matches the label in the size selector. If it is written differently (for example “37/38”), you enter the selector label in the row.
• Upgrading from version 1.x is free and needs no manual steps: existing charts keep working, and the menu moves to Content › Size guide.
• Supports Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.9. We tested it on Magento 2.4.9 with the Luma and Hyvä 1.5 themes.
