Tiered gifts
Shoppers see how much is missing for a gift. They get it automatically or choose it themselves, in the cart or at checkout. As many tiers as you like, for example €50, €100 and €150.

About the module
What it does.
“Over €50 I would like to give customers a sample, over €100 they should pick a gift themselves. And they should see how much is still missing.” A gift is a good nudge towards a bigger cart, but only if the customer notices it in time.
What it looks like in practice
A customer has €38 in the cart and next to the summary sees “€12.00 more for a gift: face cream sample”. They add a product, pass €50, and the sample appears in the cart by itself as its own line with the regular price and a “Gift” discount, €0.00 to pay. At €100 a choice unlocks: the customer opens the picker, chooses one of three gifts and can change it later, at checkout too. At €150 they get the full-size product and the lower gifts step aside (or stay, if you set it that way). If the cart drops below a threshold, the gift disappears and the store tells the customer how much to add to get it back.
What changes
- Progress towards the gift in plain sight. In the cart and the mini cart (the cart drawer on Hyvä) the customer sees a bar with the tiers and “€12.00 more for a gift”.
- Automatic or the customer’s choice. A tier gives one gift automatically or offers several gifts to choose from. If the customer does not choose, the module can add the first one.
- Choosing at checkout too. In the checkout order summary (Luma and Firecheckout) the customer chooses or changes the gift and the summary updates without going back to the cart.
- A badge on the product page. “Gift with orders over €50”, or “This purchase brings you a gift” when the product would reach the next tier. It works with the full page cache.
- Correct in the order and the invoice. The gift has its regular price and a 100 % discount, so reports and exports see it as turnover with a discount, and the customer pays €0.00.
- Stock under control. Gifts out of stock are not offered. If a chosen gift runs out, we remove it from the cart and ask the customer to choose another one.
- Rules your way. Websites, customer groups (for example no wholesale), dates, priority and, if you like, a coupon code without which the ladder does not apply.
Who it is for
Stores that have samples, smaller products or stock they are happy to give away and want a bigger cart without lowering prices. For B2B the threshold can count the value without VAT.
How you set it up
In Marketing › Promotions › Tiered gifts you create a ladder: choose the websites and customer groups, add tiers (threshold, automatic or customer chooses, gifts from the catalogue) and save. The preview describes the ladder in sentences and warns about gifts that are out of stock or disabled. The general settings (stacking of tiers, threshold basis, declining the gift, colour) are in Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Tiered gifts. Good to know
- A gift can be a simple or virtual product without required options.
- One ladder applies per cart: the first by priority that matches the cart. A ladder with a coupon code applies only when the code is entered.
- In Hyvä Checkout the gift line shows, but the gift picker is not there yet. The customer chooses the gift in the cart or the cart drawer.
- Checkout with multiple shipping addresses is not supported.
- The gift is a cart item, so rules of other modules that count items (for example free shipping from three items) may count it. By default the gift counts towards the shipping weight, which you can switch off.
- A tier label (for example “Sample”) is the same in all languages; the ladder title and the progress texts are set per store view.
- Upgrading from version 1.x needs no manual steps. Existing gift rules keep working, and the gift is now shown with its regular price and a 100 % discount.
- Supports Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.9. We tested it on 2.4.9 with the Luma and Hyvä themes and with Firecheckout.

How to install it.
You get the module from our private Composer repository; we send you the user name and access key after purchase. We can install it for you, or whoever looks after your store can run these commands in the root of the Magento 2 store (replace UPORABNIK and DOSTOPNI_KLJUC with the user name and access key you received):

Upgrading from version 1.x: composer update degriznet/m2_freegift, then setup:upgrade, setup:di:compile and a cache flush. There are no manual steps; existing gift rules keep working.
Where do I get the user name and the access key?
After the purchase we send you the access key by e-mail. Keep it safe: for security it is shown only once and we do not keep it in readable form. The user name (your project code) and all the commands, ready to copy, are in your account under My account > Module licences.
