"Add X EUR more for free shipping" bar

When shoppers know they're only 8 EUR away from free shipping, they often add one more product. In the mini cart drawer and on the cart page, the module shows Add €8.00 more to get FREE SHIPPING with a progress bar. Once the threshold is reached, the bar turns green and says Your order is eligible for FREE SHIPPING!. Products that cost more than the threshold on their own get a + free shipping badge under the price, in listings and on the product page.

Before you start

the amount including VAT from which shipping is free,
free shipping that actually applies in the cart (see below).

1. Set the threshold

Stores › Configuration › Magelan › Free Shipping Settings

In the General Configuration section, enter the amount including VAT in Free Shipping Value, for example 50. A value of 0 switches off the bar and the badge.
In the Product Badge section, use Show in Category Listing and Show on Product Page to choose where the + free shipping badge appears.

Click Save Config.

The Product types with free shipping field is for special cases; leave it as it is.

2. Make sure shipping really becomes free

The bar only tells shoppers how much is missing. It doesn't deduct shipping itself. You make shipping free with one of two tools, using exactly the same amount:

The bar counts the value of the products including VAT and excluding shipping. The cart price rule condition Subtotal (Excl. Tax) is without VAT, so enter the amount divided by 1.22 there (Slovenian standard VAT is 22 %, so 50 EUR including VAT is 40.98 without). Otherwise the bar promises free shipping but the cart still charges for it.

What counts for the badge

The + free shipping badge is shown on a product whose final price including VAT (so after any sale price) reaches the threshold. A product that dropped below the threshold because of a sale doesn't get the badge.

Common problems

The bar says shipping is free, but the cart charges for it

The threshold in the module and the threshold in the delivery method or rule don't match, or the rule is limited to a customer group or a particular carrier. Make the amounts match.

The bar doesn't appear

Check that Free Shipping Value has an amount greater than 0 and that the setting is saved for the right website (under Scope:).
