The book Leadership and Self-deception is in English, and the author is The Arbinger Institute.
I decided to purchase the book after listening to lectures by Iza Login, the richest Slovenian woman, who succeeded with the company Outfit7 and Talking Tom :)
Among other things, she mentioned that all employees had to read this book before starting their jobs. More than 2 million copies of this book have been sold, and I must say, it completely captivated me as well.
It talks about how people think "in the box" and do not see others as people, but as objects. We do not look for mistakes in ourselves, but in others, and deceive ourselves, thus not utilizing our potential. The problems we face when thinking "in the box" include lack of commitment, conflicts, stress, poor teamwork, lack of trust, lack of responsibility, and communication issues.
By thinking "out of the box," we can correct this and learn to see people as people, regardless of our relationships with them. With "out of the box" thinking, we try our best to help others succeed and achieve results (personal or business). Additionally, "out of the box" thinking can optimize the performance of employees and ourselves, and establish a team spirit in the company where everyone works for the common good and not for individual achievements. When we think "in the box," we cannot achieve the results we could because we limit or deceive ourselves.
I recommend the book: to everyone without exception – entrepreneurs, managers, leaders, coaches, people who have problems in the family (with a partner or children).
I bought the book on Bookdepository for €23.90, where they also offer free delivery to all countries. I waited about 14 days for it after ordering.
Besides this book, I also recommend for summer reading:
- Delivering Happiness (Tony Hsieh)
- #Girlboss (Sophie Amoruso)
- Elon Musk: How the Billionaire CEO of Spacex and Tesla is Shaping Our Future (Ashlee Vance)
Author: Nastja Kramer
